Rennie Elizabeth Wooster

Rennie Elizabeth Wooster, of Highland, Michigan, passed on August 14, 2026, at the age of 92. Born April 4, 1934, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Ora and Elizabeth Tompkins. Beloved wife of the late Vern Wooster; loving mother of Judy Wells, Janet Wooster, Jim (Kellie) Wooster and Jeff Wooster; grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 9; sister of Juanita (Buddy) Hall and the late Frank, Bill, Carol and Vaughan Tompkins and Shirley Golding

Rennie had a deep love for her family, and not only the one she created but her entire extended family as well. Yearly family vacations were spent traveling to Canada or other parts of America to spend time with them. Her faith in God was most evident by her soft and gentle spirit (never a cross word), her extraordinary humbleness (never thought too highly of herself and always put others before herself), her joyful generosity (a great gift giver), and her incredible hospitality ( she genuinely welcomed you into her home and loved serving you). A visit to her house meant you would be treated to a wonderful home cooked meal, of course with an amazing dessert (to satisfy her sweet tooth), and the visit would not be complete without playing some type of game around the kitchen table and when you left it was not empty handed as she would send you off with any leftovers (sometimes even dessert-if there was any left). She also loved to bake and cook, especially with her grandchildren. Rennie also enjoyed listening to music where she found comfort and happiness, among her favorite artists were Celene Dion and Neal Diamond and she loved good Ole Gospel Music. Rennie was always an avid reader, always with an open book or magazine by her side. She loved traveling with her sister and brother in law Juanita and Buddy.

Rennie was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She worked at A&P in Walled Lake as a head cashier for decades before retiring only to begin a second 15 year career with Walmart until age 80.

She will be deeply missed and has left an indelible mark on the lives that she has touched. Despite our sorrow we rejoice in her "Homegoing" where she is at peace. Her legacy will live on.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, MI 48356. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Highland Twp. Cemetery.
