Russell Edward Durk

Russell Durk, a loving husband, father, and known to all as Grandpa Russ, passed away surrounded by family who cherished him deeply. His life was defined by kindness, quiet wisdom, and the joy he found in the simple things.

He is the beloved husband of Pamela. Loving father of Kenneth (Jeanne-Marie) ZaniRicci, Michael Durk, Robert Helbig, Shelly (Patrick) Najor and Joseph (Mary) Binetti. Proud grandfather of Luciana-Marie ZaniRicci, Giovanni ZaniRicci, Emmanuel (Jamie) Najor, Joseph Najor, Patrick Najor, Jr., Michael Binetti and Marissa (Chris) Trudeau. Treasured great-grandfather of Axel and Jack. Brother of Janet Fiala, Linda Stone and the late Robert Durk. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Russ had a special love for animals, always opening his heart and home to pets in need. He also had a deep passion for classic cars, often restoring them to their former glory. As a tinkerer at heart, Russ was always building special projects for his family, creating each with the love, care, and remarkable craftsmanship of a true design engineer.

Russ was a true patriot and a proud veteran of the United States Marines.

Above all, Russ’s greatest pride was his family. He will be remembered for the gentle support he offered and the steady love he freely gave.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, as well as the many animals he loved and welcomed as part of it.

A visitation for Russ will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland, Michigan with a rosary service at 4:30 PM Sunday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 Harvey Lake Road, Highland, Michigan with visitation at church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will take place Monday, August 25, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield.
