After graduating from Milford High School in 1968, Sheila earned an Associates Degree at OCC/OU in Applied Science during the early days of Computer Aided Design (CAD/CAM). Sheila worked for General Motors Truck & Coach for nearly 34 years. She became one of the first women in the GMC model shop. Rising to a senior management position, she became the first female supervisor at GMC Truck and Coach-model making. She worked in both the Pontiac and Warren GM Engineering Departments.
Always the entrepreneur, after retirement Sheila started two home based businesses with her husband Doug. Olson Farms became a very successful 'farm to table' business. The jams, jellies and sauces literally grew out of their bountiful garden and sold regularly at local farmers markets for over 10 years. A life-long animal lover, Pawz Awhile, an in-home dog boarding business, allowed Sheila to surround herself with dozens of furry friends each year. She had many cats and dogs throughout her life, most recently dogs, Czar and Gypsy. Sheila had a passion for crocheting and always had a project in the works. She enjoyed travel, adventure, and reading.
In lieu of flowers Sheila requested donations be made in her honor to the Michigan Humane Society.
Due to the covid outbreak a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Please share a memory at www.eltonblackandsonhighland.com
