William Alvis Adams

ENTERED INTO ETERNAL REST: JULY 22, 2026.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Alvis Adams, who was born on October 20, 1946, in Pikeville, Kentucky, and passed away on July 22, 2026.

William was born to Elmo and Alvis Adams and lived a life defined by dedication, strength, service, and love for his family. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, a commitment he carried with honor and pride.

Following his military service, William dedicated 32 years of his career to General Motors, where he was respected for his hard work, loyalty, and dedication. His strong work ethic and determination reflected the character of the man he was throughout his life.

William will be remembered most for his love of family, his devotion to his wife, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, including his memorable fishing trips to Canada. He treasured his time at his cabin in Prescott, Michigan, where he created many special memories. He also loved spending time in his garage, working on cars and enjoying the satisfaction of bringing things back to life. His beloved beagles were a special part

of his life and brought him great companionship and joy.

William shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Janet. The two were married on September 30, 1972, beginning a lifelong journey filled with love, family, and countless memories. Their 53 years together were a testament to their commitment and devotion to one another.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Alvis Adams; his son,Michael; his brother in laws, Donald and Alvin; and his sisters, Ersa, Bertha, and Mary Sue.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet Adams; his sons, William Alvis Adams II and his wife, Traci, and David Adams and his wife, Kelly; his grandchildren, Kyle, Christopher, Brenden, Madison, and Blake; and his great-grandchildren, Knox and Kinsley. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Adams and his wife, Kathy; and his sister, Loretta Adams and her husband, Joe.

William also leaves behind dear friends who held a special place in his heart, including Jimmy and Sandy Eggleston and Cecil Spicer. Their friendship and the memories they shared with William will forever be cherished.

William’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, perseverance and devotion that will continues through the generations of family and friends who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed

William's memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved him. The stories, traditions, and moments shared with him will continue to to bring comfort and remind his family of the wonderful man he was.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, Michigan. A celebration of William’s life will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Burial and military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan where William will be laid to rest with the honor and respect he earned through his service to his country.
