Henry "Hank" VanPoppel

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 3, 2013, in the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton with Father Tom Kennedy as officiant.

Serving as pallbearers were Scott Long, Jose Cano, Jerry Anders, Gus Hudson, Freddie Bottoms and Marc Shepard.

Hank will be taken to his home town in Ohio, where visitation will be at the Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate, Ohio, from 5 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria, Ohio, with burial in the church cemetery.

Born in Hamler, Ohio, on April 29, 1939, he was the son of Henry Van Poppel and Angeline Skipper Van Poppel. He was a graduate of Hamler High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Prigge, on Feb. 1, 1967, in Riverside, Ill.; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2005.

Hank completed his college requirements at Northwestern, served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era and was an active member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton. His life's passion was admiring the success of his sons, Scott and Todd, and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved life on earth with family and friends. Hank loved his ranch raising cattle and horses.

He is survived by his sons, Scott and wife, Chris, and their children, Cole Henry and Kate Van Poppel, all of Rotan, Texas, and Todd and wife, Alecia, and their children, Halee, Tate and Riley Van Poppel, all of Bartonville, Texas; brothers, Jim of Napoleon, Ohio, and Bob of Vass, N.C.; sisters, Ann Miller of Maumee, Ohio, Mary Klear of Continental, Ohio, Dorothy Van Poppel of Charden, Ohio, Susan Latta of Napoleon, Ohio, Evelyn Good of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Kathy Sanniti of Chargin Falls, Ohio; numberous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of great friends.
