Thelma C. Bartels

Thelma C. Bartels 96, of Holgate, passed away early Wednesday at Vancrest of Holgate. She was born September 2nd, 1915 in Henry County to Lewis and Cora (Franz) Hoff. On March 11th, 1944 she married Alvin Bartels who preceded her on December 4th, 1954. Survivors include a son, Brent (Melanie) Bartels of Barrington, Illinois and a grandson, Steven Bartels of Chicago. She worked at Champion Spark Plug in Toledo during WWII, for 30 years as a beautician in Holgate and Hamler, and 8 years in the Credit Department at Sears in Defiance. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Holgate. Funeral Services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and for one hour prior to the services on Sunday. The family suggests memorials to St. John’s United Church of Christ SHALOM or a charity of the donor’s choice.
