

Wayne S. Fruth, 90, passed away Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Defiance. He was born November 26, 1922 in Holgate to Albert L. and Ida M. (Franz) Fruth. On March 20, 1949 he married Mary L. (Gillespie) Fruth who preceded him in death on September 12, 1994.Survivors include sons; Gregory W. Fruth and Kirk A. (Lynette) Fruth, both of Holgate, grandchildren; Abbey L. (Alan) Eng, Munroe Falls, OH, Jennifer J. (Sean) Kobilis, Holgate, and Ryan A. (Tiffany) Fruth, Sarasota , FL, greatgrandchildren; Brandon A. Eng, Tori J. Kobilis, Bryce R. Kobilis, and Dylan W. Eng. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lester E. Fruth and Lloyd H. Fruth and sisters; Audrey R. Buckmaster and Beryl L. Fruth. Wayne was a graduate of Holgate High School and served during WWII from 1942-1946 with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of St. John’s U.C.C., Holgate where he had served as a Deacon, an Elder, and as Sunday School Superintendent. Other memberships included the Holgate American Legion, the New Bavaria Veterans of Foreign Wars, Holgate Village Council and the Holgate Lions Club. He farmed for over 30 yrs and was employed with Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon for 10 yrs. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate and 1 hr. prior to the 3:00 p.m. funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s U.C.C., Holgate with Pastor Dan Sather officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. The family suggests memorials to Shalom Food Pantry.
