Albert Gustafson of Holland, Michigan died on Jan. 15, 2021. He was born April 10, 1933. in Moline, IL, the son of C. Albert Gustafson and Iva Gustafson. He married Marilyn Severs on April 2, 1955 in Moline. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Al served in the U.S. Naval Air Forces. He worked for Moline National Bank, and then as a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department. He was later employed by First Michigan Bank in Zeeland where he became corporate vice president of auditing. He graduated from the School for Bank Administration, University of Wisconsin. He was very active in his church, United Way, Lion’s Club and many other areas of service.
In retirement Al and his wife volunteered for ten years at Inspiracom/World Radio Network, McAllen, Texas. They actively promote Academia Cristiana del Aire, a Spanish radio bible correspondence school which reaches thousands of listeners including many prisoners.
Al and Marilyn traveled extensively with Airstream RV caravans throughout the U.S. and Canada. They later spent their winters at Travelers Rest Resort near Dade City, Florida, where Al enjoyed singing and performing in Little Theater.
Survivors include his wife, daughter Julia (Dr. David) Watt of Wheaton, IL; sons, Charles (Maria Droz) Gustafson of Douglas, MI, and Erik (Kelly) Gustafson of DeKalb, IL; four grandchildren, Erin (Glenn) Watt Fields, Meghan Watt (Oliver Sneyd), Zachary Gustafson and Autumn Gustafson; two great-grandchildren, Harrison Fields and Samantha Rose Sneyd; his sister, Jurly (Ron) Nichols of Evansdale, IA and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a young brother, Charles E. Gustafson.
