
Andy was born in Holland to Bruce and Harriet Dekker on August 7, 1962. Andy lived in Holland his whole life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Harriet and brother Bill.
Andy is survived by his significant other Sharon Klaasen; daughter Stacy Dekker and granddaughter Sadie; and son David Dekker and granddaughter Rilee. He is also survived by sisters Fran Walling, Pat Hanson and spouse; and brothers Lee, James Sr., Mike, and Peter as well as their spouses.
Andy had a love for motorcycles and would often ride with his buddies on the weekends. He attended the Baldwin Blessing of the Bikes and the Holland Blessing of the Bikes each year. Andy and his friends also attended many motorcycle events in Muskegon throughout the years. Andy always said when he took his bike out, he never rode less than 100 miles in a night. He also had so much love for cats, that he claimed to be part cat!
Andy worked for the West Ottawa School District for 30 years. Part of that time was spent in food services where he delivered lunches to multiple school buildings and took care of boxes of food and put them in coolers. He also spend time with the custodial department. He took his job seriously and often went above and beyond in his duties.
Andy enjoyed his retirement and you could always find him doing something. He loved lawn work and was very proud of his lawn. If he wasn’t doing something for himself, he could be found helping his neighbors. Andy was the type of man that anyone could depend on. He never said no to anyone who asked for help.
Andy truly loved life and would get up each day feeling happy. He would say that we had choices, and that he chose to be happy the majority of the time! He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
