Anna Marie Huesing
March 14, 1941 – January 31, 2019
Anna Marie Huesing, of Holland, passed away Wednesday January 31, at 5 a.m. after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. Her children, Lisa Jurries and Steve Huesing, were by her side as she went home to her Savior after 77 years.
A native of Sassenheim, Netherlands, Anna arrived in Michigan at the age of 9 years-old along with her parents, Bart and Hilda DeJong, and brothers Bud, Bart Jr and Cory. She graduated from Holland High School in 1959 and later studied business at Grand Rapids Community College. Many in the area may remember Anna from her 43-years at the two Meijer locations working as a cashier.
Friendly, professional and full of life, the divorced mother of two rarely took a day off of work and imparted that work ethic into her children by that example. Still, she was excited to start her much earned retirement at 63 and sadly was diagnosed with her liver disease shortly thereafter. A member of Peace Lutheran Church of Holland, Michigan, Anna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing cards, bowling and trying her luck at the penny slots. Her favorite game was Nerts which she played often with her sister-in-law Ursula Huesing. She also enjoyed spending time with her dear friend Phyllis Mix-Mars.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Hilda; her brother Bud; guardians Joe and Mable Gadziemski and their children, Rosie and Delores; and brother-in-laws Ted and Jack Huesing. She is survived by her children, Lisa and Steve (and their spouses Brian and LZ); brothers Bart (and his wife Ellen), Cory (and his partner Tina Bergs) and Michael Gadziemski; her sister Linda Solomon; grandchildren Sandra Wilfore (and her husband Chris), Alex Kolk, Sammie Kolk (and her boyfriend Danny), LZ Isaiah Granderson; sister-in-laws Ursula and Kathy Billerbeck; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitations are from 6pm-8pm on Friday, February 8th and 11am- noon on Saturday, February 9th at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 389 James Street Holland, Michigan 49424.
The funeral starts at noon on Saturday, February 9th at Peace Lutheran Church followed by a luncheon. Flowers can be sent to Lakeshore Memorial Services located at 11939 James Street Holland, Michigan 49424 and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Holland.

Annie has been in my life since the day I was born and the connection she and my Mom had was a truly loving sisterhood. I know they are reunited in Heaven and back to laughing, singing and enjoying endless sweets together. I am forever grateful for all the ways she touched my life and could not be happier about the cousins she gave to me. Steve, you and I have a bond that is just indescribable and I hope you know that I will forever be here for you...good times and difficult times. Your Mom adored you and was so proud of you! Lisa, the nurturing you provided your Mom was selfless and loving and she clearly recognized what a gift of a daughter she had in you. The days ahead will be challenging at times but know you have the love and support of so many! I will recall so many fond memories of times spent with my Mom and Annie and will miss her smile and laughter. Grateful for family. Prayers of comfort and peace to all whose lives were touched by Annie!
