Bernd Pastunink, a resident of Holland, Michigan, passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 15, 1934, in Bad Bentheim, Germany, Bernd moved to the United States with his beloved wife, Gesine.
In 1958, Bernd married the love of his life, Gesine Pastunink. Together, they had six children and spent nearly 50 years together before Gesine's passing in 2007. Bernd is survived by his daughters, Mary (Tim) Steinbeck, Brenda (Gregg) Stoel, Joyce Stich, and Karen (Troy) Bush; his son, Harv (Sue) Pastunink; and his daughter-in-law, Kristi Pastunink. He was predeceased by his wife, Gesine, his son, John Pastunink, and his son-in-law, Joe Stich. Bernd was also a cherished grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Known for his hard work and dedication, Bernd was a disciplinarian as his children grew up. He had a passion for tinkering and fixing cars and was a jokester who loved to bring joy to those around him. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling, particularly to Texas and Alaska. Bernd was a long-time member of Christ Memorial Church and found great joy in being a grandparent.
Visitation will be held at Lakeshore memorial (11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424) on December 8, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Bernd Pastunink will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his dedication, humor, and love for his family.
