Betty was born on November 3 1936, in Olive Center, MI to Cornelius (Cornie) and Henrietta Vanden Bosch. Betty married the love of her life, James Kooman and together they had 3 wonderful children. She enjoyed going on cruises with her husband – Jim. Together they went on over a dozen cruises. Betty was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she worked in the library for many years and also enjoyed being part of the Golden Friends group. Betty and her husband Jim also did volunteer work at Crossroads Prison Ministry for many years. She worked as a cook for years, latest being at Warm Friend. She was a strong-willed, kind, caring, compassionate woman of God. She will be deeply missed.
Betty is survived by: her children Diane (Barry) Westveld of Zeeland, Dave Kooman of Holland, and Dan (Bonnie) Kooman of Zeeland; as well as grandchildren Mandy (Scott) Plumer of Arvada, Colorado; Krysta (Andy) Quick of Borculo, Michigan; Anna (Ben) Eisele of Hudsonville, Michigan; and Nicholas Kooman of Zeeland. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Mason and Ella Plumer; and sister-in-law Arlene Kooman of Oregon.
Betty was preceded in death by: her husband of 65 years James Kooman who passed away a little over a month ago.
A visitation for Betty will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1015 E 32nd St., Holland, MI 49423. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 1015 E 32nd St., Holland, MI 49423. A private burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 994 Paw Paw Drive, Holland, Michigan 49423.
