When Dave and Beth’s kids were just toddlers, Dave had taken a position out our way, 3 hrs from  Holland) and would drop my adorable grandkids off at our house so we could have the awesome pleasure of babysitting Olivia and Dominic while he worked and then pick them up at the end of the work day!  Olivia and Dominic brought so much pleasure and fun to our house as our son, Mark Wagner, was recuperating at our house from the whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer!  Olivia and Dominic were distinctly memorable with their toddler antics!  Dominic would get the food all over his face while Olivia would crawl under the table whenever it was time to eat!  I have always said Olivia and Dominic played a huge part in Mark’s healing from the whipple!  In turn I always thanked Dave for driving 3 hours to our house to bestow this distinct honor on me which  in turn was responsible to a great part in Mark’s total recovery!  Mark thoroughly enjoyed the toddlers with their toddler antics!  He would laugh so much which was all part of Mark’s healing!  I always felt Dave could accomplish any task and contributed a great deal to Mark’s healing!  God love and bless Dave and grant him peace and love for eternity!

When Carl and I first met Dave’s parents, Bill and Joan, at a Mother’s Day brunch at twin Lakes Country Club in Rochester Hills,  Joan made it a point to let us know that when Dave first met Beth, he told his mom, Joan:  I met the perfect lady, Beth Ann, who is a keeper!  This comment of Dave truly impressed me!

I have so many memories with Dave it’s hard to pick just one. Many great get togethers at his and Beth’s home, a variety of running races and our bowling league. Most recently, enjoying all he did for us when we took a tour with Tulip City Paddle Tours. At all of these events he had a smile on his face and thoroughly enjoyed being with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. 

Beth, Olivia and Dominic…our most deepest condolences to you.  We are thinking of you and sending our love.  Dave will be missed.  May he rest in peace.  He is now your guardian angel.  We love you.

I first got to know Dave by being invited to social events after running. He and Beth did such a great job of building community by opening up their home and providing food, drinks, and fun. Getting pulled into their world opened up my world, as I met so many cool amazing people I would never have gotten to know without them. I enjoyed talking (and sometimes arguing!) with Dave at the chili cookoffs or in the car driving around in the car at Dances with Dirt. What I admired most about him is how he prioritized creating meaningful experiences with his family. His adoration of his children shone out from him, and he always put Beth, Olivia, and Dom first. I am so sad he is no longer with us, but I know that remembering his love of family and sense of fun will make me smile.

I am so very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing.  My deepest condolences to you, Olivia, Dominic and Dave’s parents Bill and Joan.  I always enjoyed times with Dave and then you two when you dated and married.  Dave was always so gregarious and fun.  Loved hearing their high school stories.  My deepest condolences and sympathies.

My primary memories of Dave are that of high school. Always the jovial one, ready to converse with you on  any topic. He was very proud of his varsity jacket, which he wore with regularity !

I was fortunate enough to reconnect with Dave inside the last few years -  of course usually at some sort of MSU themed event which we enjoyed very much. Recent  picture is of Dave and NHS friends at another college football gathering in Lansing last NOV.

You left us much too soon friend. May God bless your soul. Our most sincere condolences to Dave's family and friends.

Condolences to all of Dave's family and friends. I was roommates with Dave, Doug Hopek, and Steve Watkins at Alma College. Dave was a fantastic person and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Wishing all the best and praying for his family!
