Dorothy Sterenberg, age 89 of Holland, passed away on April 26, 2021 at The Inn at Freedom Village. Dorothy grew up in Chicago, and graduated from Chicago Christian High School. She worked at Marshall Fields for many years in Chicago. She and her husband, John, enjoyed spending many summer vacations on the Michigan lakeshore and fell in love with Holland, where they would spend their retirement. She cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed her most recent years spent at Freedom Village, where she made a number of beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Susan Sterenberg, and sister Edith Ipema. She is survived by her sons: John Jr. and Jeannine Sterenberg, Mark Sterenberg; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Lois and Ed Damstra; brothers-in-law Henry W. "Hank" Ipema, Pete Sterenberg; sister-in-law Elaine "Babe" Stob; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will be gathering privately to honor Dorothy. I remember my aunt Dorothy being a very sweet person and a quiet soul that loved the Lord and honored Him with her humble obedience. I can still hear her calming voice in my mind. Thank you Lord for her life and I know she is now in her true home.
