Duane was born in his home in Zeeland, and would live on the same farm for most of his life. He was longtime member of Ottawa Reformed Church, where he served in a variety of roles, including a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder. Duane worked for Hart and Cooley for almost 50 years, and continued his lifelong farming role in his retirement. A veteran of the United States Army, he served proudly our country for 2 years and for a time in Germany.
Preceding him in death was his brother John Kossen; and his son-in-law John Pastunink.
He is survived by his wife Lois of 58 years; son Kevin Kossen (grandson Kyle Kossen), and daughter Kristi Pastunink (granddaughters Jill (Henry) Murray and Colleen Pastunink; siblings Gordon (Elsie) Kossen, Eunice (Gerald) Wright, Stan Kossen, and Lillian Morren; in-laws, Ronald (Hennie) Diresenga, Ken (Alice) Diresenga, Sherry (Cal) Ensing, Gary (Nancy) Diresenga; and Ruth Driesenga; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, May 10, 2021 at Ottawa Reformed Church, 11390 Stanton St., West Olive, MI. Officiating will be Chaplain Cindy Nyhoff. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2:00pm Monday May 10 prior to the service at the church.
