Born Evert Jan Prinsen in the Netherlands, Ed immigrated to the United States with his family in 1958. Ed was known for his positive attitude and commitment to his faith. He loved spending time with family and taking part in activities like hiking and camping. In addition, Ed and his wife Annie were snowbirds, and loved spending many winters in Alabama and Georgia. They could often be found playing golf, socializing with friends, and biking. His biking friends affectionately knew him as “Fast Eddy.”
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Willemina; his son Albert; sister Lubertha; and brother Albert.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Annie (Schierbeek); children Karen (Dan) Ensing, Willemina (Gunnar) Winge, Irene (Al) Colman, and John. He is also survived by grandchildren Jamie, Andrea, Nicole, Kendra, and Michael; great-grandchild Avert; and sister Roelie Pat.
A memorial service for Ed will take place at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 17 at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424 with a light meal and fellowship following.
