Born and raised in Holland, he served in the U.S. Army and worked for 42 years at Holland Hitch. Gene was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping with his family, woodworking, traveling, and spending the winters in Texas.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janet (Aalderink) Boerman; children, Mary Jo White, Mark (Christal) Boerman; grandchildren, Samantha White, Nicholas White, Kate White, Emily Boerman, Erica Boerman; and brother Glenn (Marcia) Boerman.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 9, 2015, at Beechwood Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Road, Holland, with a reception to follow. Reverend Dawn Vagle will be officiating.
Visiting hours will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Beechwood Church.
