Gerald married Marjorie Vandenberg on August 6, 1955, and together they shared 70 years of marriage. He served in the United States Navy for four years. Over the course of his working life, Gerald drove truck and considered himself a “pedal pusher.” In quieter hours, he loved to play golf and enjoyed woodworking.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie DeWeerd; his parents, Gerrit and Theresa DeWeerd; and his granddaughter, Krystal DeWeerd.
Gerald is survived by his children, Rick (Krista) DeWeerd, Vicky (Scott) Joldersma, and Craig (Sue) DeWeerd; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
