OBITUARY

Hazel Geneva Bosch

October 29, 1924April 2, 2020

Hazel Geneva Bosch, 95, went home to Heaven where her mind and body are restored. She was born in October 1924 to Harry and Fannie Nyhuis in Overisel, Michigan, and lived on the farm settled by her Dutch immigrant ancestors for her entire life, a fact that gave her much joy, and ultimately commitment, to her place in the world. Hazel attended Beechwood School and later Holland High School. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. She worked side by side hauling livestock with her husband and is often remembered for driving livestock truck. Hazel enjoyed crocheting, going away with friends, table games and especially her children and grandchildren. She read the Holland Sentinel every evening as part of her routine. She crocheted and donated over 200 lap robes to the Grand Rapids Veterans Home along with many afghans for family, friends and the Lakeshore Pregnancy Center. She was famous for her homemade caramel corn and banana bread. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Bosch, her children Linda and Kendall and parents Harry and Fannie Nyhuis, her sister and all her brothers and sisters in-law. Also preceding her in death are her sister Juliet (Bernie) Yonker, in-laws Jerry (Cina) Bosch, Harv (Effie) Bosch, Jerry Hoffmeyer, Henry (Alberda) Bosch, Jeanette (John) Lubbers, Sarah (Gerald) Tucker, Alfred (Evelyn) Bosch, Ernest (Jean) Bosch, and parents-in-law Anthony and Susan Bosch. Hazel is survived by her children Beverly (Jeff) Berens and Dennis (Kathy) Bosch, grandchildren Clayton and Shelby Berens, Andrew Bosch, and many nieces and nephews. Hazel is also survived by her special friends Jo Hoffman and Linda Johnston. Internment has already occurred at Overisel Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Your mom and grandma was one of the sweetest people I ever knew. I have such sweet memories of Hazel and Tony. I always looked forward to going to your house on Fridays to get the bills from them.
In later years we would see her at Jackie’s and she was always smiling and happy to see us.
After my mom died I really really wanted your mom and my dad to do things together because she was so much like my sweet mom.
I’m sure you have so many memories that make this time both harder and easier.

She made the best raisin and bran muffins! I was so thrilled to see her the day of my wedding. She drove across the entire state and back that day. She raised my best friend. ❤️

So sorry to hear of Hazel's Death, yet rejoicing with the family that she is at rest and in peace. I was always thankful for having good neighbors and for Hazel and Dennis' kindness and help when I lived across the street. Rest in Peace Hazel.

Your family has our sympathy. We always looked forward to her when she would stop by to buy sweet corn. We will miss her.
