I was so saddened to hear Hazel passed. I grew up across the street from her and Ken, they were such wonderful neighbor's. They will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will miss seeing her on the way to church on 112th every Sunday, my prayers, and sympathies to the family.

I had the privilege of taking a wonderful vacation with (Aunt) Hazel to Punta Cana in January. We had a great time and made lasting memories! I will always remember her good sense of humor and our shared passion of working with special needs adults. She will be missed!

To Hazel's Family, All of you meant so very much to her! Each time we talked, she always had something she wanted to tell me about her family. She was a very dear and special friend to me. I miss her so very much already. We shared so much, both being widows. She had a compassionate heart toward others and was always so thoughtful and willing to help me with any need, at any time. We had fun lunches and Bible studies together. I will miss her wonderful sense of humor and sitting with her at church. Jeremiah 29:11 is a special Bible verse we both claimed: For I know the plans I have made for you," declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Hazel and I had many more plans but it was the Lord's plan to take her home. To you, her family, may you find the Lord's love, hope and joy...and may sweet memories of her bring a smile. Lovingly, Elaine Sybesma

Dear Jacobsen Family,
We want to share with you how truly sorry we are about the loss of your dear mother and grandmother. We cannot express how grateful we are for the love, kindness and support she showed over the years for Wayne and the rest of the adult disabled at East Ottawa Special Ministries. She brought joy and laughter to their lives and willingly gave of herself to others every day and made a huge difference in the lives of countless people in our community. We are praying God will bless you with peace and comfort in the memories you share of your wonderful parents.
With sympathy and love,
Wayne Havinga and the Havinga Family

Where do I start with all the wonderful memories that I have of Hazel. We shared so many times together at her home, leading Coffee Break Bible Study, being on the East Ottawa Special Ministries board together along with riding the bus to pick up the many special people that attended. The many bus trips we had with you as our driver and the memories of all the crazy things that happened, especially the bus fire and the ride in the police cruiser. Oh did we laugh!! We even had a trip to WI planned but I had an emergency situation that put a damper on that idea. She so loved her family and would share about her grandson in the military with pride. All of her grandkids made her face beam with joy. I will miss her tremendously. Her seat in church, organ side third row with her sweet friend Elaine will never be the same. My heart hurts that the circumstances of this world will rob her of the respect and honor that she so deserves. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes to all the family. I loved your mom and she was a great servant of God in doing His work. Well done , well done good and faithful servant. ❤

Hazel and Ken were wonderful people. They were so welcoming when we joined Ottawa Reformed. Hazel always had a smile and a belly laugh. Her wit was wonderful. She had a loving, caring nature.

Her greatest happiness was her relationship with Ken and her children (we didn't know her with grandchildren). She was so proud of each and every one of you. She loved your spouses and your relationships with each other. She loved time together with her family.

I know that she will leave a hole in your hearts and in many of her extended family's hearts. She will be missed. However, God now has a wonderful angel who is watching over you all. She loved and loves you.

Our prayers are with you.

Brandon, Heather and LeAnn, We have some great memories, when your Mom would cut the kids hair and we would get neighborhood updates. Such a giving heart and always ready with that beautiful smile. But oh the church bus rides! Those are memories we will hold forever. Praying for comfort as you go through the days ahead.
