

James was born in Akron, OH and graduated from Akron University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and then received a master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from University of Michigan. He worked for Consumer’s Energy for over 30 years and volunteered at Holland Hospital after retirement. He also attended Fellowship Reformed Church. Jim loved to go skiing, both in northern Michigan and on the yearly family trip to Colorado, and spend time on his boat on Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, windsurfing and biking.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Louise Meincke and is survived by his wife Gail, son Christopher (Megan), daughter Michelle, grandchildren Emma and Sophie, sister Eleanor (Tony) Szpak, brother Edmund (Deb) Meincke, cousin Carl (Judy) Meincke, in-laws Ray and Lois Ritzema, sisters-in-law Dianne Page and Marge Miller, brother in-law Gary Ritzema and many nieces and nephews.
Per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street in Holland. Rev. Jim Baar will be officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 1:00-2:00pm, one hour prior to services at Lakeshore Memorial Services in Holland. Special thanks to Hospice of Michigan for their loving care of Jim. Donations may be given to Hospice of Michigan, The Alzheimer’s Association or Fellowship Reformed Church.
