Joyce Kroeger, age 94 passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020, at Fayettes Home for Assisted Living where she resided the past 11 months. Born March 29, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ada DeZwaan.
She was the beloved wife of George Kroeger. He preceded her in death in 1999. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia J. Block of Pinckney, Michigan, Gerald O. Roark of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Michael A. DeVree of Holland, Michigan.
Joyce graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids. She along with her family attended Fifth Reformed Church. She was always willing to cook and deliver meals to anyone in need. Until late in her life she was very active in the kitchen and whatever church she attended. She liked to organize photos, and host birthday and holiday events for family and friends. Knitting was her hobby and pastime. She always had time for a good game of cards.
She is sadly missed and survived by her children, Karl G. Kroeger (Donna) of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Deborah J. Roark of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marcia J. DeVree of Kingsport, Tennessee, and son-in-law, Donald L. Block of Pinckney, Michigan. In addition, she also leaves her brother, Ken DeZwaan (Marge) of Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be 11 am, Friday, July 17, 2020, at Cascade Township Park, 3810 Thornapple River Drive SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546.
