

She was born in Allegan County, but raised in Holland. The daughter of Ben and Jessie Brower, she graduated from Holland High School in 1940. Lois spent many years in the Holland area before moving to Grand Rapids, and then to Urbana, IL. She returned to the greater Holland area, where she was employed in retail for many years, retiring as a department manager for Herpolsheimers. Her retirement allowed her to indulge in her passion for sewing. Lois was an excellent seamstress. She was devoted to her son Kendall and was very appreciative of the care she received from her niece Barb in her late years. At her request, no services are planned.
Survivors include her granddaughter Courtney (Jeff) Steck; sister Elaine Bouman; niece Barb (Paul) DeJonge; nephews Steve Bouman, Bob Bouman (Jean VanGrouw), Dennis (Mary) Brower; great nieces and nephews Tyson (Krista) DeJonge, Teg DeJonge, Brittany (Ryan) Garvelink, Ben Bouman, Jenna Bakker, Troy (Andrea) Bouman, Terra (Luis) Gonzales, Claire VanGrouw, Erin VanGrouw, Alison VanGrouw.
Lois is preceded in death by her first husband Kenneth Brouwer, second husband John Kessel, son and daughter in law Kendall James (Kathleen) Brouwer, brother and sister in law Hollis (Lois) Brower, brother in law Harlen Bouman.
