Obituary For Manuel Beltran del Rio

It is with great sadness, yet hope in Jesus, that we share the news that Manuel Beltran del Rio, age 53, of West Olive, Michigan, is now with the Lord after a courageous 6 month long battle with osteosarcoma (a rare cancer). He went on ahead of us peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children at home, on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

Manuel was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, and first came to the USA as a student at Michigan State University in 1983, where he met his wife of 30 years, Laurie (Myers) Beltran del Rio. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1984. Manuel also leaves behind five children, Rachel, Marisa, Timothy, Abigail, and Lydia. He was a loving husband and father, and is greatly missed in our hearts and home.

Manuel was employed for the last 22 years at Consumers Energy, most recently as a Systems Analyst. He also volunteered much of his time as IT Support at his church, Harvest Bible Chapel, West Olive, MI. Manuel was a graduate of Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI, and also held a Masters Degree in Internet Security and Networking from Ferris State University. In all areas of life, Manuel was known for his encouraging words, huge smile, and great sense of humor. I hear they are still looking for a “pumpkin” at work….

Manuel is also survived by his father and step-mother, Hector and Pilar Beltran del Rio of El Paso, Texas; his mother, Esperanza Uranga of Ciudad Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico; bother Hector Beltran del Rio and wife Sharon of Santa Cruz, California; sister Esperanza Beltran del Rio of Guadalajara, Mexico; brother Francisco Beltran del Rio and wife Aracely of McAllen, Texas; sister Mariana Beltran del Rio of El Paso, Texas; as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Manuel’s in-laws, Ron and JoEllyn Myers, Ron and Laurie Myers, Fred and Teri-Sue Pierson, Sam and Stephanie Myers, Tom and Natascha Myers, Jon and Toni-Marie Beard (all of West Michigan), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, are feeling the loss of a very special part of the family. He was loved and respected by all.

In lieu of flowers, please consider one of two giving opportunities.

Manuel loved the work being accomplished by God in the lives of hurting women by the Healing Hearts Ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel. A donation can be made via Harvest Bible Chapel with Healing Hearts/Manuel in the memo line.

Also, a Gift may be given to the family to help with this time of transition via cash or check made out to Laurie Beltran del Rio. The church will also accept and deliver these gifts, or you may give them directly to the family.

Manuel was a funny and wonderful man, we went to high school in Chihuahua, (colegio de bachilleres ) he sat in front of me sharing a desk with Miguel perea, he was always an excellent student, we shared many wonderful funny moments and times as a group with Carolina Flores, Gaby servin, Karin, Clara , Roberto Leal, and many more people that loved him, he always had a wonderful smile, we had great times in our homes just having a wholesome time, he had a truck and we used to ride with him to go buy "burritos" .. I always had the desire to see him again, after high school nobody knew much about him, my brother is great friend with Paco and used to asked for him.. After seeing his memorial and celebration of life I can only say that he had a full life with a wonderful wife and adorable kids, his legacy will be a seed that will bear wonderful fruits through their lives, congratulations Laurie you both have done a wonderful job, I didn't get to see him in this world but we will see each other in our celestial bodies , what a joy to know that he met his savior.. all my love and respect for the family. sincerely Pilar Alfaro- Miami , Fl

Querido Manuel,
