I got to know Margaret with the Ann Arbor area AXD alumnae. I was very fond of her, and we played bridge with the group. We both graduated from Albion, so we had a bond beyond sisterhood. I also graduated from Tappan, before Margaret taught there, and I only learned this reading her obituary! Margaret was a special person, and I was sad when she moved from A2. My sympathies to her family. I hope she was happy in Holland.

Mrs. Collins was my 8th grade math teacher at Tappan junior high. She was a tall, intimidating woman who ruled the classroom with minimal fuss; and no one, not even the most unruly kid, dared disrupt the class. It wasn't until I met with her after class a few times that I discovered how warm and personable she was, with a twinkle in her eye and a subtle sense of humor - just charming. A remarkable teacher of math, too.

Margaret was a dear friend who joined the Ann Arbor Branch of AAUW while I was President. She immediately became Treasurer when the person in that position needed to resign.
In later years, we became walking buddies in our neighborhoods and had many long talks while walking.
Her whole family has my deepest sympathy.
