Marguerite DeBoer

Marguerite DeBoer, age 91 of Holland, died on December 2, 2019. Predeceased by husband of 45 years, Meine (Mike) DeBoer (2014) and brother Nick Yonker. Marguerite was born in Krabbendam, the Netherlands, daughter of Gerrit and Jeanette Yonker. She moved to the US in 1949. A graduate of Pine Rest Christian School of Nursing in 1954, Marguerite worked several years as a nurse at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids before accepting the position of Director at the Florence Christian Home in Patterson, New Jersey. There she married Mike, a widower with two young children. Mike and Marge moved to Holland after his retirement where Marge worked as a schedule administrator placing care givers for the elderly. Marguerite resided at Resthaven Care Center for 6 years where she served on the Resident’s Council. She had a true servant’s heart and reached out where she could to help others. She was a blessing to those she befriended, and will be missed. Marguerite was a longtime member of Bethany United Reformed Church in Wyoming, whose members generously supported her with visits, cards, and gifts. Survivors include Mike’s children: Ann DeBoer of New Jersey, Roy and Lynne DeBoer of Holland; Grandchildren: Tracy, Rich, and Elcira Gallo; Siblings: Linda Cook-Toren, Jane and Donald Baker, Peter and Bette Yonker; Sister-in-law Ila Yonker; Many nieces and nephews, including a special niece who served as a caregiver, Elsa Baker. A funeral service will be Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11:00am at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, in Holland. Burial will be in East Saugatuck Cemetery. Rev. Casey Frefwick will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mid-America Reformed Seminary, 229 Seminary Drive, Dyer, Indiana 46311, or Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49519.

Dear family de Boer ans Yonker
Marguerite lives 70 years in the USA. I was as her youngest nephew, from that generation Gerrit, Aart and Jan Gerrit Jonker, I was born also in 1949 but than just after that the family of my uncle Gerrit emmigratied too Michigan USA.
It was very pleasant that we meat Marguerite in june from this year in Holland. We heared she was amused to speak dutch wth us Tineke and Nico Jonker on that saturday in june 2019.
W e had a nice visite at her house for eldery people on that saturday and Ila has made there a very nice party with also other members of the fam Yonker..
Before I became 70 (december 14)has Marguerite leaved this world and gone too there Father in the heaven. We have also visted in june the place where Mike has his grave and where also is a rest place now for Marguerite just behind her parents my uncle Gerrit and aunt Jane. For us it was very valuable to know this nice Not Marguerite also we wish you many nice memories too Marguerite. Hartelijke groeten vanuit Ter Aar (a village where Marquerite also has lived and visited the elementary school, in our church we have a lady member who does remember Marije Jonker in USA Marguerite)
