Marilyn Joyce Covert, 75, was called to her eternal home into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, October 11, at her family’s side. She was the wife of Roger William (Bill) Covert. They shared 53 years of marriage together. Born in Zeeland, Michigan, she was the daughter of Gordon and Johanna Goorman.
She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in elementary education. For 25 years, she worked for Holland Christian Schools as a music teacher. As an active member of Pillar Church, she was passionate about playing the organ, singing and directing the choir, and mentoring special needs individuals and college students.
Some of her many hobbies were gardening, singing in the Holland Community Chorale and traveling around the world. However, the main joy of her life was spending time with her family and friends.
Marilyn is survived by her children- Kris (Bob) Arent, Diane (Kurt) Brouwer, and Lynn (Sheldon) Dykstra of Zeeland, MI; siblings- Jim (Sue) Goorman of Muskegon, MI and Loie (Henry) Hoekstra of New Era, MI; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Pillar Church, 57 East 10th Street of Holland, MI. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 14 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street of Holland, MI.
