She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and James Kearney, and her brother Jim Kearney.
She is survived by her two daughters Kathleen (George) Bauer of Holland, MI and Eileen (Mike) Champion of Delton, MI; Grandchildren Benjamin (Jennifer) Bauer of Hudsonville, MI, Kimberly Briones of Lansing, MI, Sarah (Adam) Ver Beek, of Holland, MI; great grandchildren Elijah and Ari Ver Beek; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren; sister Patricia (Jack) Stoterau of Fort Mojave, AZ; and a special sister-in-law Phyllis Kearney of Paw Paw, MI.
She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in South Bend, IN, and attended Saint Mary’s Church in Niles while raising her daughters.
She worked as a dental assistant, store clerk, pharmacy manager, and bank teller.
She spent many winter days ice skating with her brother in Jackson, MI. They rode the train back and forth to Niles to complete their schooling the year they moved to Niles, MI. She was a resident for over 40 years before moving to Holland in 2012.
She often accompanied her dad, who worked for Penn Central Railroad, to middle of the night train derailments in Jackson and Niles, MI. She loved family gatherings, NASCAR, home decorating, line dancing, and shopping. Those times with her family and her luncheons with her best friends of 71 years, Betty Depoy, Anita (Neadie) Weller, and Phyllis Kearney were the best!
Her family would like to thank Resthaven Care Center and Hospice of Holland for the kind, compassionate care given.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Niles, MI. A private memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
