Mark Thomas Smith

His family and many friends knew him as a compassionate man with a big heart and a contagious smile. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Mark graduated with his Bachelors degree in graphic design from Ferris State University. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and maintained strong relations with his brothers throughout his life.

He was a man of many talents, expressing his artistic abilities both through his career and as a hobby. He can be remembered by his many works of art around the Holland area, including his famous captain at the beloved Captain Sundae.

He is survived by his two children, Sophie and Sutton Smith of Holland, MI; mother, Karen (VanderMolen) Schaner of Fremont, MI; brothers Michael S. Smith of Allendale, MI and Mitchell D. Smith of Holland, MI; closest confidant Steve Brown of Ft. Myers, FL; and many other friends and relatives near and far. He is preceded in death by his father, Otis Smith.

A celebration of life gathering will be at Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant downtown Holland on August 20, 2015, from 5:00-8:00pm at in Holland, MI.
