Michael Leroy Caprarola, 59, passed away Sunday morning as the sun shone down from the heavens. After a long time battle with various illnesses, Michael was granted his angel wings while surrounded by his family. We honor and cherish a man taken before his time and celebrate the impact he had on so many lives.
Michael, lovingly referred to as “Mit” by many, enjoyed all the things life had to offer. An avid sports fan, Michael loved his Baltimore Orioles and Indianapolis Colts. Music was an important part of his life, having sung in a barbershop quartet, acting and singing in various musicals and studying the arts in New York City. His love for food led him to a long time career in restaurant management and later to the hospitality and floral industries. He traveled as often as he could and visited his friends and family as frequently as possible. His lasting love for community and togetherness was infectious.
Michael is survived by his wife Carol, his daughter Kristen (Heather Hackert), his son Ian (Patricia Caprarola) and his two grandsons who carry his name Logan Leroy and Aiden Michael. In addition, Mit is survived by his sister Constance Noll, two brothers Joseph Caprarola, and Steven Caprarola, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Caprarola Sr. and his mother Joan Sheets.
A celebration of his life will be 2 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018, at Fellowship Church, 2165 Lakewood Blvd., Holland, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be 5-8 pm, Thursday, April 12, at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the American Diabetes Association in Michael’s honor.
