Our hearts are heavy for you loss. So many times during the half of boys Varsity soccer games, Nathan would go out on the field and play soccer with Lucas and just treat him like he wasn't just a little kid. We will always be thankful for him being so kind to Lucas! What a special young man❤! You will all be in our thoughts and prayers for a long time to come.

This might not mean much but Nathan was one of my best friends throughout elementary and it's truly devastating to think of this happening. I enjoyed playing soccer with him and remember those good times . I wish all of my condolences to his family and hope they make it through this tragedy. - JJ

My condolences to your family. So sorry to hear of your loss.

So many memories of watching our boys together on the soccer field, developing their talents playing the game they loved so much and couldn't get enough of! No matter the uniform, it was an incredible joy for them to share the game; and our families bonded both on and off the soccer field. We were blessed to know Nathan and he will be missed. Love and Prayers to your family.

As a parent who has also lost a beloved son I empathize with your feelings of grief and the incredulity you feel every day when you awaken and realize he’s gone.

I neither know you nor did I know Nathan but I do know your sorrow and I especially appreciate your courageous decision to reveal the cause of Nathan’s death. Although my son died of cancer, it is as important to recognize the equivalent necessity to address mental health as well as physical health, and, by doing so, de-stigmatize mental health issues.

Your revelation of Nathan’s cause of death is another step toward a more straightforward thoughtful discussion of the need for more open conversations about mental health as well as for more mental health professionals.

You have undoubtedly helped others though I realize it is small consolation at this time.

My husband and I thank you and grieve your loss with you.

Our family would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone who knew and loved Nathan. Although we did not know him personally, our son played Xbox with him online for almost 4 years and he hearing his laugh and conversations with our son, it was almost like knowing him. Our son will miss him online. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Amy, Rob and Ryan please know that our family's thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. I know that our families haven't seen each our recently, but we are family and just know we are here for you. My memory of Nathan was always that he was a very nice and respectable young man. Love to you all.

Nathan played basketball with us in 8th grade at creekside. I can definitely say that all of us on the team loved him and he was a big part of the team that year. He brought great energy and made us all laugh with constant jokes and sarcastic remarks. Nathan was a blessing to all and he will be greatly missed.

Wilson family, I am one of the Pastors at North Holland Reformed Church. Many of our high school students go to Zeeland West, and in the past week of connecting with them, I have learned what a wonderful person and friend Nathan was! Though I didn't know Nathan personally, I wanted to share that he made a positive impact on the students I work with, and he is deeply missed by them. We at North Holland are praying for your family as you process such a painful loss.

I remember how Nathan was always happy and excited during the marching band and was so kind-hearted to everyone, He will be missed dearly I'm sorry for your loss.

Our son Luke played trombone in band with Nathan & we wanted to express how sad we are for your loss. We have been praying for you every day. Luke wanted you to know that Nathan will be deeply missed, and we will think of him every time we go to a concert or watch the band march. We pray for strength and healing for your family & all who loved Nathan.

I had the honor of coaching Nathan both at the Michigan Fire Juniors as his team coach, and at FC Joga Bonito, a Christian Soccer Camp for several summers. Nathan was an amazing teammate with a heart to do everything he could to contribute to his team at his very best. He loved to learn and improve, and only knew how to give his best whether learning new skills, or competing in our annual World Cup 3v3 tournament of which I have included his player pass card from one of the years he attended our camp.
For those of us who shared our passion for "the beautiful game," while striving to learn to integrate our faith into our game, Nathan will be truly missed. He will always sit next to me in my heart as long as I coach!

Rob, Amy, and family, my heart is broken for you. I just can’t imagine what you are going through. To lose a child I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I love you guys and please know that I think of your family a lot. We have not seen each other lately but our bond is strong. Remember that God loves you even though it may feel like he is punishing you. Our God is not that type of God, he is a loving God. We will never understand his will until we see his face. I love you.

Rob & Amy,
It was truly a pleasure to watch your talented son, Nathan, play soccer. Although it has been many years since he and our son played together at TNT, the memories of that team are as vivid as if it were yesterday. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Thinking of you—

Wilson Family,

I want to express my dearest condolences. I will never forget the practices, games and late night rides I shared with Nathan. He inspired me and many others to be the best we could be. As a team, we consider each other family, as brothers, and that's what Nathan was to us. We'll continue his legacy of spreading kindness and courage and strength as we move on without him. Thank you for raising an amazing player, but more importantly, an amazing son. Rest In Peace Nate, score a goal up there for me.

Rob, Amy & Ryan,
There are no words to say to help you in your grief right now, but please know that you are in our Thoughts and Prayers! I will never forget how Nathan ALWAYS was ready with a Smile and a Wave everytime we drove by. Brandon has such great memories of having nerf gun wars with Nathan and his friends, he thought of Nathan as an extra little brother. I'm so glad that Brandon and Ryan are so close and that Ryan has such a strong friend group to hold him up and support him right now. Please let us know if you need Anything, we are more than happy to help. May God Surround you with Immeasurable Peace, Love and Comfort as you navigate your way through this Grief Journey. Please know that you are not alone!

Dear Wilson Family,
My son Joseph played on ZWHS soccer team for a time with Nathan He has mentioned how much Nathan loved the sport. Our hearts go out to you. Know that we are covering you in prayer in this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you. Nate was such a pleasure to coach and I enjoyed his passion for the game! He worked so hard and never wanted to leave the pitch! Your families support for me as a coach always meant so much to me as well. David always loved playing with Nate and I enjoyed watching them even play fifa together online. This team and the boys of the 04 fire team were such a pleasure to know and coach! I pray for your family. Nate will be so very missed by all of us! Prayers and condolences.

It's horrible to lose someone as good a person as Nathan was, knowing all the people whose lives he touched. Some of my fondest memories have come from playing soccer with Nathan; from playing alongside him at TNT to playing against him at Fire, it was always a joy. I'll never forget him, and I send my prayers out to the Wilsons in this challenging time.

I didn’t know Nate, but I offer my prayers to your family in this most difficult time. May he rest in peace, and may you all find peace in the memories. It sounds like he was a special human being.

I’ve never met Nathan but I did hear a lot about him, I was told that on the soccer field he was like fire, even though I have never met him, I am still grieving for his loss, and my condolences to the family, I’m so sorry you lost him

Wilson family,
Nathan was my student in English 9 during his freshman year, and I am deeply saddened by his passing. I am holding you all close in prayer as you navigate these difficult days. This picture with his dog here is so special because I remember him as a much smaller, younger-looking kid.

I am a teacher from New Groningen Elementary. Although I did not have Nathan as a student, I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. As a mother, my heart aches for your loss. I pray that you will be comforted by God’s amazing blessings and give you peace. My sincerest condolences to your family.

I didn't know Nathan, nor do I know your family, but hearing this tragic news breaks my heart. Such a young life gone too soon. I pray for peace you your family through this trying time no parent should ever have to go through. So sorry for your loss.

Amy, Rob, and Ryan - This is so hard. The sorrow is so great. We loved Nathan. From the time the boys were in fourth grade, they played soccer. Even when they weren't on the same team they would route each other on. Caleb's fondest memory was the "millions" of hours they spent after practice kicking the ball around in the dark until one of us had had enough and it was time to head home. Nathan was a delight and I loved when I was able to get him to a camp or practice. I can't imagine watching a game without him there. He was always so polite and easy to be around.

We are praying for you to feel the peace of Christ even in this most painful situation.

I am super sorry Wilson family for the loss of Nathan. He was such a great person. He was super passionate for soccer and he always talked to me about soccer. I just remember all the fun times we had going all the way back to middle school. I remember in 7th grade doing a science project and making a huge mess with vinegar and baking soda. Then to seeing you in math for what nobody thought the last time. I am going to miss siting next to you in math and always talking to you everyday. We had so much fun playing video games everyday. Rest easy Nathan.

We offer our sincerest condolences to your family and pray for God’s peace and love to rest on you.

Our sincere condolences to the entire Wilson family! You are all in our prayers during this difficult time🙏🏻 Loss of a loved one is never easy but with a sad heart I thank the Lord for allowing me to Coach Nate when he was a young lad! An honor, blessing and such a treat to have such a young fella compete no matter if it was training, soccer tennis or a game! Nate was a no nonsense, hard working, honest team mate!! He always gave of his best and played soccer with such Pride!!
Nate, The Lord has called upon you! Your “New Coach” needs you to now lead his squad pal! Make them all proud like you made your loving family and us all proud buddy!
Until we meet again - R.I.P 🙏🏻
All our love and prayers
Neathan & Family

I am Gunnar Nitz's mother. Gunnar is grieved to learn of Nathan's passing. He's loved playing soccer with Nathan and considered him an integral part of his Fire Family. He says that Nathan was a person of the utmost character and the teammate every player hopes to have on the field with them. Every time he takes the field for Fire, Nathan will be in his heart. We extend our most sincere condolences to Nathan's entire family.

Nate was above all else a friend. When we moved to Holland and Caleb had to leave his friends, Nate quickly became the friend he needed. I will always hold dear the years watching them grow on and off the field.

Rob, Amy, and Ryan our hearts break for you. You are all in our prayers.

In 2006 I moved to Holland & while waiting for a career opportunity I was blessed to take care of “Nay Nay” When he was just 1-2 years old at a local daycare. Fast forward to 2012 I lost my career due to budget cuts & began working at a learning center & was blessed again to see how he had grown into a handsome, smart, glasses wearing young boy at around 7 yrs old.

I can not imagine the trials of uncertainty during this time & I will spare the cliche’ quotes. I simply send my thoughts & prayers to Amy, Rob & Ryan.
