July 11, 1952 – October 5, 2019
Noe Guevara, age 67, was united with his heavenly father on Saturday, October 5, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Noe was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 11, 1952 and was raised by his loving parents Mary Aguilar (preceded in death) and David Guevara. He had four siblings, Gilbert Guevara (preceded in death), Annette Guevara (Grand Rapids, MI), Rudy Guevara (Cleveland, OH), Simon Guevara (Chicago, IL). Noe married the love of his life, Shirley Guevara on November 6, 1970 (preceded in death). Together they raised four children; their daughter Kelly Groteler and her husband Robert (Holland, MI), their son Jamie Guevara and wife Christine (Santa Fe, NM) and sons Thomas and David Guevara (Holland, MI). In 1990, Noe was severely injured in a motorcycle accident leaving him a quadriplegic. With the Lords help, his wife Shirley dedicated her life to his full time care, accompanying him to his job at the phone company for many years allowing him to retire. During their 45 year marriage they were also blessed with 5 grandchildren; Caleb, Haley, Sydney, Brooke and Saige. They will always remember their grandpa Noe for the time spent taking joy rides on the back of grandpa’s wheelchair, his incredible sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to their faces under any circumstance. Noe will always be remembered as an example of humility and grace who could bring the gift of joy to anyone who crossed his path. He was grateful for every day on this earth and is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ…walking, running and dancing. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10:30 am at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St. in Holland. Interment Restlawn Memorial Gardens. We were out for dinner just a few weeks ago when I got a tap on my shoulder and heard Noe's recognizable voice. It was so good to see him again. As usual, he was so friendly and genuinely warm. His positive attitude was always apparent. He always gave us a reason to smile.
You have our deepest sympathy in the loss of your father.

Noe and I would call each other every spring when the first humming bird was seen. One could not ask for a more positive attitude.

Our family met Noe and his wife when we lived in Holland. We were neighbors and their kids became like grandkids. We have some great memories living next to them. We became great friends. Through the years we moved and so did they, but we continued to be in each other’s lives. My last memory of Noe was this past August when my sisters and I stopped in to see him. It was a beautiful evening and he was outside with one of his sons ready to enjoy a steak dinner. He was so cordial and in his sweet way made us feel so welcome . We reminisced about our parents and some sweet memories. Then with a hug for each of us he smiled and said goodbye. What a sweet man he will be missed. Heaven’s gain, but our loss. I know there is such rejoicing in heaven as he reunited with his loved ones especially Shirley whom he loved so dearly.

There's just too many stories. Noe was a one of a kind. One thing I'll say is that from his perspective as the oldest son in a family of 5 and the oldest cousin in a very large family, he had a perspective on our lives.
He might have seen us in our worst seasons; maybe if we were down and out, or just trying to get by... And he'd celebrate with us on our best days; the graduations, weddings, family reunions and baby births... and he always love us just the same.
I'll miss you big brother. Thanks for cheering us all on from heaven.

Noe will be missed by the Airway team in Holland. He was always coming in and telling us stories and making us laugh. And be was often times checking up on me to make sure I was being safe on my motorcycle. I use to call him Kenny Rogers.... so he would try to sing for me or when he'd call he'd say he was Kenny Rogers. I cried so hard when I got the call.....he was one man that brought joy to the day. I am happy for him though because I know he's dancing with Shirley with no oxygen or anything. My thought and prayers are with the family.
