

Ray worked for the Holland Board of Public Works. He was a US Veteran and was a member of the VFW, Amvets and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marian in 2014; a son, Rodney in 1973, and a grandson, Brad Knitter in 2015.
Ray is survived by his children Charles Klies of Douglas, Marlene and Allen Rader of Holland, Sharon and Francis Coughlin of Zeeland;
grandchildren Chad and Natalie Kleis of Belmont, Aris Knitter of Holland, Bethany VanderKolk of Holland, Jena and Ian Coffie of Florida, Leah VanderKolk of Holland; step-grandchildren Beth Coughlin, Kristen Coughlin, Dani and Kurt Lubbers; great-grandchildren Sydney Kleis, Tatum Kleis, Kyler Koopman, Taryn Coughlin, Chloe Coughlin, Kaden Coughlin, Reese Coughlin, Penelope Coffie, Isla VanLangevelde, and Allie and Calvin Lubbers.
He is also survived by sisters Marian Scholten of Holland, Elaine and Vaughn Jensen of Jackson, and sister-in-law Claire Faber of Ionia, and by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Thursday, December 22, 2016, 11 a.m. at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, in Holland. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. just prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.
