Robert L. Bos, 83, died at home on May 13, 2016. Bob was a lifelong resident of Holland. He and his wife, Judy (Lappenga) Bos, married in 1960 and have two children, Joel Bos and Elizabeth Crowe; daughter-in-law Karla Kammeraad and son-in-law Robert Ukeiley; granddaughter, Hannah Rain Crowe; and step-grandchildren Alyssa Anten, Austin Kammeraad and Anthony Kammeraad. He loved them dearly, and was dearly loved.
He worked for 33 years at Chris Craft, 14 years with Holland Christian Schools, and 15 years in his “retirement” at Hope College. Bob worked hard, with pride and integrity, and was also known for his jokes, puns and occasional pranks.
Music filled Bob’s spirit and he shared his singing talents with his churches, family and community throughout his life. He was a founding member of the Holland Chorale in which he participated for 47 years – the group’s longest serving member.
Bob could fix or repair almost anything. He enjoyed bicycling, and loved to watch Hope College Men’s and Women’s basketball games, at which he occupied the front row bleacher at mid-court. His basketball fan legacy continues, as Bob was the model for Hope’s mascot, “Dutch.”
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at Hope Church, where he and Judy are members, at 77 West 11th St. in Holland. Visitation is at 1PM with a service at 2PM, followed by fellowship and refreshments.
To honor Bob, the family encourages donations to Hospice of Holland, and the Holland Chorale.
