Robert Junior Geerlings

Robert was born in Zeeland, on April 8, 1938 to Martin and Reka Geerlings. During his life, he served his community well as a Zeeland Police officer (including officer of the year), a postal worker/Post Master, National Guard and school bus driver.

Bob was a long-time member of Faith Reformed Church of Zeeland where he was proud to share his memorized Bible verses, serve as church custodian and as a youth group leader.

He was a lifetime member of the Jaycees and the AMBUCS, organizations whose main goal was to serve the community.

After retirement, Bob loved to garden and collect pop cans to benefit the youth of Faith church. Services will be Tuesday, July 26 at Faith Reformed Church, Zeeland. Visitation at 12:15, service at 1:00pm. The family is requesting that we honor his heart of service by bringing a clean, empty pop can to be donated in his honor.

Robert is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Geerlings; children Heidi (Heath) Hunt, Todd (Dana) Geerlings, Scott (Jaclyn) Geerlings, Kent (Deborah) Geerlings, and Holly (Ken) Arens.

Grandchildren, Landon Ziegler, Lexington Ziegler, Katreil Ziegler and Monroe Hunt, Aric (Lisa) Geerlings, Brandon Geerlings and fiancé Jenna Schaub, Jenna (Rob) TerHorst, Michelle (Ty) Tanis, Kent Geerlings Jr, Hannah Geerlings and fiancé Greg Woodward, Zachary (Rachel) Arens, Samuel Arens and fiancé Jessica Petersen, and Abigail Arens.Great grandchildren, Henry TerHorst, Charles TerHorst, Olivia Tanis, Theodore Tanis, Madeline Tanis, Malachi Arens, Cora Grace Arens, Haiden Arens, Caroline Arens, Makism Crebassa, and Piper Crebassa. Siblings, Rose (George) Bouma, Ethel Steenwyk, Paul (Jan) Geerlings, Evie (Ron) Brouwer, and Dave (Linda) Geerlings; brothers in law, Paul (Marilyn) Wyrick, and Jack (Mary) Wyrick: sister in law, Myrna Caballero; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Reka Geerlings, siblings, Harv (Ang) Geerlings, Robert Geerlings Sr, Ruth (Eugene) Michielsen, Arloa (Ken) Koning, Marian (Dale) Engelsman, and Carolyn (Herb) Otten; brother-in-laws, Claus Steenwyk, Wally Wyrick, and Ronald Wyrick; sister in laws, Marion Orich, and Carolyn (Pete) Osterbaan.
