Robert Gutierrez

Robert was born July 15, 1952, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Salvador and Cruz (Garcia) Gutierrez. He graduated from Holland High School, and settled in Holland, Michigan.

Robert served in the United States Marine Corps, a reflection of the steady sense of duty that guided his life. He also worked as a tool and die maker, bringing to his work the kind of persistence and pride that comes from being truly hard-working—someone who showed up, carried his share, and did things the right way.

A man of faith, Robert attended St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. In quiet, consistent ways, he lived with a kind heart and a selfless spirit, offering care and consideration to those around him and placing family and responsibility at the center of his days.

Growing up in the Detroit area, Robert was a diehard Detroit Lions fan. Some of his most cherished traditions were Thanksgiving Day games shared with his siblings and sons, followed by returning home together for Thanksgiving dinner—simple, beloved moments that became lasting memories.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Salvador and Cruz Gutierrez, brother LeRoy Gutierrez and Sister Elizabeth Hernandez.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Luz Reyes; his children, Robert (Terri) Gutierrez, Miguel (Jennifer) Gutierrez, Angelo Gutierrez, and Salvador (Priscilla) Gutierrez; 16 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and siblings Victor Gutierrez, Salvador Gutierrez, Betty Ross, and Gail Bethke.

Visitation will be held at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, Michigan 49424, on September 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by A Celebration of Life Service at the same location on September 21, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm.
