On behalf of the Society of Air Force Nurses, please know we are mourning the death of our friend and colleague, retired Lieutenant Colonel Sandee Kamper- Hawkins. My first assignment as Chief Nurse was at RAF Lakenheath, and Sandee was the Deputy Chief Nurse. I could not have asked for a more supportive assistant. I have very fond memories of that assignment, and especially Sandee's story-book wedding to Alan Hawkins. She was a longtime member of the Society, and a donation in Sandee's memory will be made to the Military Womens Memorial which stands at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery. She will be missed by many, and Sandee will not be forgotten by the community of Air Force Nurses.

We are proud and grateful for former Lieutenant Colonel Sandee Kamper-Hawkins’ service to our nation and to the broader field of nursing. She has had a tremendous impact on so many lives. Sandee will always be remembered with honor and her legacy will live on.
