Artie was my neighbor and my friend......he always called me Miss Ina.......he always had a smile and had such s good heart..........i still look over there where he lived and miss him

I sure miss ARTIE, we camped for many years down in Kokomo at the Vietnam Veterans (yearly) Reunion. We were also members of many veterans organizations. WE called him ARTIE. His smiling face and sense of humor was solely his alone. We could talk about Vietnam back in the day until midnight, and when we were younger, even longer. We would talk about things that only us Vietnam Vets would really understand. I think of him often, and also the other members of Camp 73 that have left us. I know we are here for only a short time, but the older I have gotten, the faster the time seems to go by.. Dear LORD, please hold Artie close, and let him enjoy your power and glory.

I miss Artie , after many years of camping with him at KOKOMO. We sure had a lot of laughs, and good times, and serious talks about our days in Vietnam. God Please take good care of him. Till we meet again my friend. Dave Delemme

The phone rang from the hospital 
It was sad news to come
You waited for your last goodbye
 and soon you had gone
I cried many hours and my tears still come

When I was young My brother took me on Sunday rides , and he  taught me  how to drive. Through treacherous roads and sand pits omg! Just floor it and never stop. I think he was frightened when I stopped on a railroad track and couldn’t shift it. Yes, it was a manual , 4 speed car . He said lets go “ the train is coming” I was frightened but pulled it through. We both laughed but never forgot. 
 We are here on a loan to sow seeds from above. But what can I say for yours was all about love. Always helping in those of need, family and your veteran brothers indeed. 
You served with honors and I’m very proud. I will truly miss you .
Now I see you sleeping but your not dead. It’s not a goodbye for I will see you again.  An angel you’ve become to walk by my side,  to care for me until I die. R I P. Love you my brother. 💔

I met Artie at the 40th anniversary commemorating the ending of the Vietnam war at the Holland Civic Center. It was at this time that Artie and JC Carlson more or less took me under their wing. Artie & I hit it off very well & he invited me to be his hootch mate at the Kokomo Veitnam reunion. That went on for 5 great years. 
Me being the babysan in this group, I learned many things about being a Vietnam  Veteran and being proud of that. 
Thank you for all the great times we had in this short period of time Sergio. I will always hold a special place in my heart.

Will miss you my brother. Many years of sharing memories and sharing experiences. Our reunion will not be the same. Rest in peace brother, your watch is over. Until we see each other again.

Artie you will be missed by all your friend at the VFW, it was a pleasure to have met you..My Friend May You RIP.


When we became members of the VFW Post in Holland,  Artie was one of the first people to greet us with a firm handshake and a big smile. He could light up a room with that smile and an ornery joke. We only knew him for a little while, but will miss him an eternity. Condolences to his family and his military family as well.  

Got to meet him when he was at Freedom Inn. Enjoyed talking to him and finding out that I knew Paula. He will be missed from alot of people

Artie was a vital part of the Post 2144 community. He always livened up a room when he walked in. I will always remember the trip to Washington D.C to The Wall. I’m so glad I finally made it to Kokomo with him. I will miss him dearly. We were Brothers in every sense of the word. Rest In Peace Artie. 

The Shoreline Marine Corps League will be absent a huge personality that guaranteed a smile and good laugh for many. Artie’s special way of lighting up a room with his dynamic personality was unique, and he will be very sorely missed. Peace to Artie and peace to his family.

We are saddened to hear that Art has passed away. He was  such a great part of our group at the American Legion here in South Haven and knew the history of many of the different posts in this area. We so enjoyed our ride to Washington, DC...he was an amazing man and so kind!!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, and he will be missed. I knew Artie from camping with him down in Kokomo for years at the yearly Vietnam Vets Re-union. God Bless.

Artie and I camped at Kokomo for over 10 years at the yearly Vietnam Veterans yearly re-union. We were also members of the VVA Chapter 73 in Holland, and the American Legion also. Artie was filled with Vietnam stories and extremely proud of his service in the  599th Combat Engineers in Vietnam. Camping at Kokomo us Veterans opened up to each other around the campfires in the evening about things we would never talk to other people about. This was not a fighting field, but a healing field. After a week together camping, it was sometimes hard to say goodbye to each other until next year, because we didn't really know who would be above ground for the next get together. Artie was always dedicated in helping his fellow vets with a big heart that he didn't always show everyone. We loved taking rides on the Huey's and flying over the Indiana corn fields flying over the camp grounds. He once told me that when flying he felt more alive. I know what he means. I served in the U.S. Air Force in B-52's during 1968 over  South Vietnam. Artie helped veterans  for over 20 plus years with all kinds of help with benefits, food, medicine, and much more. Artie had a solid sense of Patriotism. I will miss him, but inside i know that we will see each other again. "Till We Meet Again my Friend".
