With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon Lynn Langejans, who peacefully entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 79. Born June 22, 1947, in Overisel, Michigan, Sharon resided in Zeeland, Michigan, and lived a life marked by devoted service, steady purpose, and deep love for family and community.
A Holland High School graduate, Sharon later earned a bachelor’s degree from California College of Health Sciences—an accomplishment she pursued later in life while raising a family with three boys. Her determination and commitment to learning reflected a quiet strength that carried through every season of her life. Professionally, Sharon took great pride in her work as a cardiopulmonary therapist. Her care extended beyond the workplace through multiple mission trips undertaken with her healthcare co-workers, including journeys to Russia, Africa, and Jerusalem—places where her skills and compassion could meet real need with dignity and respect.
Sharon also served for many years as the varsity softball coach for West Ottawa High School. Among the highlights of her coaching years was leading the team to its first state championship game in 1980, an achievement that spoke to her leadership and dedication. Just as meaningful were the lifelong friendships she formed with many past players—relationships built on encouragement, loyalty, and shared effort.
Above all, Sharon was immensely proud of her grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to support them—whether on the sidelines or at school and family functions. Her presence was steady and faithful, a source of reassurance and joy to those who knew her best. Sharon found beauty and meaning in creative pursuits throughout her life. She enjoyed music and painting, and she was also a very good photographer, someone who knew how to notice, frame, and preserve the moments that matter.
Sharon is survived by her three sons, Jeff (Cindy) Langejans, Jeremy (Heather) Langejans and Eric Langejans; 5 grandchildren Cierra (Seth) Walters, Wyatt Langejans, Ellie (Sotan) Khem, Reagan Langejans, Christian Langejans; great granddaughter Greta Lynn Walters; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marie Nienhuis; her siblings, Paul Nienhuis, Terry Nienhuis, and Betty Lanxon; and her daughter, Jodi Lynn Langejans.
