Steve, age 76, was the son of the late Soph and Celia (Voss) Ouwerkerk. Born and raised in Muskegon, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, finishing his tour of duty at 22 years old with a rank of Sgt. E5.
Steve worked at Donnelly for many years and then at Five Star Realty. He retired from Menards after 14 years working in the garden center. He was loved and well-respected, a hard worker, and always had a great sense of humor.
Steve is survived by his wife Karri (Vuurens) Ouwerkerk and his brother Larry Ouwerkerk; In-laws Pamela Hemingway (Jim Butts), Rod and Karen Vuurens, and Jeff and Janet Achterhof.
He was preceded in death by sister-in-law Sharon Ouwerkerk; sister Ruth Ann (Musk) Cashbaugh; and brother-in-law Bud Cashbaugh.
A memorial service will take place at Holland Baptist Church – 906 E. 24th St., Holland, 49423 on Sunday, March 12, 10:30 AM. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Holland Baptist Church or Hospice of Holland.
