On January 6, 2023, Terry Lee Viening, 78, was welcomed into heaven to begin his eternal life with our Lord and Savior. After a faithful life journey, Terry is free from the limits of his earthly body and is now living painlessly in the magnificent presence of Jesus.
Terry served in the National Guard, and loved playing the drums in the army band. Terry enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and gardening. It brought him such joy to be able to share these hobbies with his children and grandchildren over the years. Terry’s deep care for his family was evident in the way he joyously supported and encouraged his grandchildren through his consistent attendance at sporting events, concerts, and ceremonies. Terry’s sense of humor and laughter warmed the hearts of all who knew him. Throughout his life, Terry’s commitment to Jesus was evident through his active role in the Church as a deacon, elder, and a Sunday school teacher. He lovingly gave his time to serve as a Kids Hope mentor, and faithfully volunteered at Ditto for 15 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his faithful wife of 55 years, Judy; his daughters, Wendy (Bryan) Kragt, Gail Viening, and Joni (Andrew) Lawrence; Grandchildren Kelsy, Makayla, and Nycole Kragt, and Erika, Amber, and Carter Lawrence; and great-granddaughter, Kassidy Kragt; Brothers Ken Viening, George Viening, and Henry (Norma) Viening; Brother-in-law Dale (Diana) Poppema and sister-in-law Arlene (Art) DeRoo. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
As a husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Terry faithfully demonstrated the abounding hope and love of Christ. Family and friends gratefully look to Terry’s life and find a beautiful example of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. While Terry’s time on earth has come to completion, his life is evidence of God’s goodness and faithfulness. His life will be celebrated on Friday, January 13 at 11:00 AM at Community Reformed Church. Visitation will occur on Thursday, January 12 from 6 to 8 PM, and Friday, January 13 from 10 to 11 AM at Community Reformed Church.
