

Ted was in the Army Air Force, serving proudly overseas in WWII. After the war, he graduated from Michigan Normal (now Eastern Michigan University), studying education. Ted was an accomplished athlete; from playing baseball, basketball, and football at Denby High, as well as at Pacific Baseball and Football Competition for servicemen during the war. He was co-captain of the 1949 Eastern Michigan Football team, and was asked to try out for the Detroit Tigers. He continued his love for sports as a successful football coach at Millington High, as well as coaching in Royal Oak. Ted also had lifelong enjoyment playing golf with family and friends. Ted loved the Lord and was a man of faith. He was an incredible and loyal loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and son. He will be remembered for his gentle, humble ways, and wisdom. Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Jackie in 2004.
Ted is survived by his children:
Carol and Jeff Hurst, Ted and Meg Bott, Susie and Jim Sager;
6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren;
Brothers and sisters Nancy, Margie, Don, and June.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 12:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, in Holland. Rev. Lynn Bruce and Rev. Dennis Perkins will be officiating. Burial will take place in Graafschap Cemetery.
