It is with heavy hearts that we let our friends know that we laid to rest Winifred (Winnie) Bowerman, our mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great great – grandmother. Preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) a son William Jr., son in-laws Jack K. Nash and Ron Van Ommen. Surviving are her children, Virginia (Jinny) Nash, Judy Van Ommen, Randy & Carol Bowerman of Holland, Melissa Bowerman of Indiana, and dear friend Tina Glupker.
A private family burial has taken place at Graafschap Cemetery with Pastor Andy Fierro officiating.
Winnie lived a very full 94 years. Winnie and Bill had a mink farm, Lakewood Turkey Farm and in 1948 she planted the farms first blueberry bushes with her husband Bill. She just loved the farm and was a farmer at heart. She loved the entire process of growing produce and also had the farms first self-service produce stand. Winnie paved the way for Bowerman Blueberry farm as we know it today on James Street.
We are going to miss her dearly. The summer is not going to be the same not seeing her riding around the farm on her golf cart in her pink sunhat.
Winnie loved Calvary Baptist Church and her “Joy” Sunday school class where she worshipped her Lord and Savior.
Despite our sadness, we are comforted in knowing Winnie is in peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father, and all is well with her soul. She has also been reunited with her husband Bill, and we are thankful. This isn’t goodbye, but a “see you later” when we will all rejoice together in our eternal home. We love you Mom and grandma.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or Calvary Baptist school of Holland.
