Adalberto Cortes

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother ADALBERTO CORTES, on FEBRUARY 17, 2025, at the age of 69. He was Born on APRIL 14, 1956 in AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO to ALEJANDRO CORTES CABAN AND SUSANA CABAN MENDEZ. ADALBERTO, AFFECTIONALLY called “EDUIN/ERIE,” was a cherished member of our family, known for his kindness, GREAT SENSE OF humor, LOVING HEART AND adventurous spirit.

Adalberto is preceded in death by his father & mother (Alejandro Cortes & Susana Caban), his brother Angel L. Cortes and beloved nephew, George Wonsang.

He is survived by 2 sisters: Carmen L. Wonsang and Maria L. Cortes and 3 brothers: Miguel A. Cortes, William Cortes, and Alejandro Cortes Jr. He is also survived by his 5 Children: Alberto Cortes, Robert Cortes, Tywan Young, Carolyn S. Cortes and Angel Cortes.

Additionally, Adalberto is survived by 15 grandchildren, MAURICE BODDEN, JR., LANYA BODDEN, KAMARI ALVAREZ, MASANI BODDEN, NEVAEH L. HONEYCUTT, LASHAWN VILLINES, TYWAN YOUNG, JR., DESTINY YOUNG, LAYLA YOUNG, ALBERTO CORTES, JR., ALICIA CORTES, FELICIA CORTES, VICTORIA CORTES, AALIYAH CORTES, JOSHUA CORTES. He is also survived by great grandchildren, 5 loving nieces, 2 nephews, as well as many dear friends.

He attended JHS 180 and graduated from Far Rockaway HS in Queens, NY. His greatest strength was lending a helping hand to those in need whether they were family or friends. He greeted everyone with a smile and treated all as friends! He was committed, responsible and a very hard worker. He was creative, enjoyed working with his hands, and not afraid of technology.

Adalberto leaves behind a loving partner of many years, Cary Martinez, and her children Louis & Evie.

A celebration of his life (a memorial) will be held on March 6, 2025, from 1-3 PM, followed by Interment.
