She attended Happy Grove high school in Portland and upon
graduation joined the Jamaican Army where she served from 1960-1963.
She met and married Gilbert Bryan and later migrated to Kent, England There she attended Bromley School of Nursing and that began a career in Nursing that spanned over 50 years. She migrated to the United States and resided in New York City, New York and later in Englewood, New Jersey. She continued her nursing career and was Head Nurse in the Neonatal Department at Harlem Hospital, New York. She earned her Associate Degree at Bergen Community College, New Jersey. Upon relocating to Miami, Florida in 1976, she earn her B.S. in Nursing at Florida International University in 1981.
She held various positions at Jackson memorial Hospital, Bascomb Palmer Eye Institute, Parkway Hospital, Miami Dade County Health Department, and Vitas.
Adelaide was known by friends as "Miss Addie" and was known for her love of baking and gardening . Each Easter and Christmas, family and friends were blessed with her Jamaican buns and fruit cakes. Her love for gardening is seen by the many fruit, vegetable and flower trees at her Miami Gardens home. A good day for Miss Addie was being outside "playing in the dirt" taking care of her plants and flowers.
Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents in Portland, Jamaica, her sisters Constance, Janet, and Selena and her son Lloyd.
She is survived by her children Suzanne Faver, Billings, Montana, Donovan Lawrence, Savannah, Georgia and Erica Stephenson, Stone Mountain, Georgia, grandchildren Courtnay, Jordan and Anita, brother Cornelius Hall, Portland, Jamaica and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
