He attended McArthur High School, where he went on to play on the Varsity baseball team and graduated in 1972.
Alan loved rock and roll music, his particular favorite bands being Led Zepplin, Ozzie Osborne and Steppenwolf. He also enjoyed target practice shooting. However, his greatest joy and enthusiasm were devoted to fishing. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He was also a career foreman surveyor, as his love of the outdoors was the center of his life.
Alan fought bravely against a rare form of Parkinson's Disease. He is finally free of that confinement and suffering, and for that we are grateful. He leaves behind his three brothers and his sister: brother, Tom Dinges, (along with Tom's wife, Diane Dinges, & daughter, Darlene Mesagno), brother, Tim Dinges, brother, Rev. Richard Dinges and sister, Barbara Kratzke. In addition to his family, Alan leaves behind his dear and much loved caregiver, Trudy Westcarr, whose devoted care and assistance were a treasure to him.
