

Dr. Alberto Antonio Casaretto, 78, passed away at home on December 1st, 2022. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Irene Rosa Casaretto son Alberto Casaretto and two granddaughters Ariel Irene Casaretto and Isabella Pilar Casaretto and sister Adriana Maria Alcazar.
Alberto was a well-known and respected Nephrologist in Fort Lauderdale. He went to Pio XII Salesiano High school in Cordoba Argentina, attended medical school at National University of Cordoba. He moved to the USA in 1968 for his internship at Union Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. He continued his residency training at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, then to Boston; Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Mass General Hospital and Boston Veterans Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He also spent 4 months working as an interim Dialysis Medical Director at the University of Utah.
Dr. Casaretto moved his family to Fort Lauderdale in 1974. He was the first Nephrologist at Broward General Hospital. In 1980, he began his private practice and was a pioneer in bringing Outpatient Dialysis care to Broward County and facilitating the first kidney transplant in Broward County in 1975 also at Broward General Hospital.
Alberto was a man who enjoyed by staying busy and taking on new challenges and became a luxury home builder, completing homes in Fort Lauderdale, Telluride Colorado, Cordoba, Argentina and Bariloche, Argentina.
Alberto was an avid boater, angler competing in several Bahamas Billfish Tournaments in his Hatteras Rambo, painter, chef, world traveler who also enjoyed watching his granddaughters compete in sailing regattas.
Visitation will be Friday from 9am-11am Fred Hunter’s Fort Lauderdale followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at Saint Anthony’s Church followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
