"Some people touch our lives in deep and wondrous ways. With their kindness, they teach us the capacity of the human spirit. With their wisdom, they help us to view life as a magical journey. With their hearts, they show us the real meaning of love." -Flavia
Alice Lewton Berry was that kind of special person. When she married Richard Berry, she became a second mom to his three daughters and a very special member of our family--a woman we were very proud to call our mother and great friend. She leaves behind family members who love her very much--her daughters, Barbara, Audrey and Marcia; sons-in-law, Aaron and Michael; her grandchildren, Cameron and Kelsey and her husband, Bill; and her great grandson, William Aaron.
Alice was unfailingly decent, kind and generous, not only to her family, but to all of the people she came across in her life. We found it touching and revealing how remarkably attached even casual acquaintances such as neighbors, friends, and associates were to her. She cultivated warm personal relationships and everyone was extremely fond of her. Her friendships were deep and abiding with all those in her extended chosen family--Helene, Dolores, Richard, Ray, and Harriet.
How do we say goodbye to someone who has loved us all these years, believed in us, shared in our joys and tears and been part of our most precious moments? With heavy hearts certainly, but also with gratitude for our tremendous good fortune in having had her in our lives.
