Amanda Tilley of Dania Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024. She was born to Harvey and Vera Haffner on April 5, 1958 in Aldershot Hampshire, England. Amanda grew up in England, Germany, and Singapore with her siblings.
Amanda's natural talent as a hairstylist was recognized shortly after beginning her career in London, and she used her skills to broaden her horizons. For years, Amanda delighted passengers by working on cruise ships, and traveling between islands in the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean Sea. In 1984 she married Dean Edward Tilley and settled down in South Florida to start a family. Her career continued to flourish in Fort Lauderdale as co-owner and manager of The Design Team, a thriving upscale salon located downtown.
Warmth and compassion defined Amanda's persona, both public and private. She shared her time and good fortune with many in need from the local homeless population to Veterans of America. She was, and continues to be, adored by friends and family all over the world.
Amanda was an avid reader who loved spending sunny days at the beach. She also enjoyed time in the kitchen, preparing imaginative and savory Anglo-American delicacies for friends and family. She will always be revered for her kindness, her glowing demeanor, her many talents, and her love of life and people. Amanda leaves behind her son Dylan Charles Tilley, daughter Brittany Salin Tilley, granddaughters Veda and Venya, brother Paul Haffner, sister Vivienne Fletcher, and many extended family members in England. She will always be missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Garden Home, located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida between 11:00am and 12:00pm. A celebration of Amanda's life will immediately follow until 1:00pm.
