Anna Maria Lachnicht passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on the morning of August 20, 2026, at Hearthstone at Wildwood Assisted Living Community in Oxford, Florida. Her family is deeply grateful to the staff there, as well as to her hospice caregivers, for the kindness, compassion, and comfort they provided, especially during her final days.
Anna Maria was born in Enfield, Connecticut, to Michael Collura and Rosa DeSanctis on June 29, 1927. She graduated from Evander Childs High School in New York in June 1945. On June 20, 1953, she married Bernard Joseph Lachnicht at Our Lady of Grace Church in the Bronx, New York. She held various roles with NY Telephone and AT&T before eventually retiring from BellSouth in the early 1990s. During her long retirement, she lived an active and joyful life, enjoying dancing, tennis, and time spent with her grandchildren.
Anna Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Bernard, who passed away in July 1988.
Anna Maria is survived by her three children, Steven, Gerard, and Lori; her three grandchildren, Jamie, Brian, and Sarah; and her first great-grandchild, Nikko. Her second great-grandbaby, Riley, is expected in November.
She will be laid to rest beside Bernard in Hollywood, Florida. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 10:00 AM at Fred Hunter’s Hollywood Memorial Gardens North. The cemetery office is located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL.
We respectfully ask that no flowers be sent to the gravesite—your kind thoughts and support are truly more than enough.
